Shop Clay Courses

We organise regular courses, workshops and private classes. We also offer bespoke workshops for kids or team-building activities suitable to all levels, for groups of friends, companies, or anyone who wants to experience an inspiring day of making. The space is fully equipped with wheels, large tables, shelving, electric kilns, glazing room and electric heaters. Our regular courses are organised by our experienced teachers, Ewelina Bartkowska, Lisa Sjukur, Jake Fisk, Frances Gibson and Faye Macaree. Dress in practical clothing and be prepared to get dirty.

After the class the work will be dried and fired, we will notify you via email as soon as it is ready for collection , which is typically 3-4 weeks after the class.

Work collection times: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10am-4pm

Collaborative sculpture

Fran and Faye invite young artists (5–11 years old) to work together to build a magical summer garden sculpture! Inspired by the flowers, insects, trees, and creatures around us at Rochester

Square, kids will explore clay techniques and contribute their own unique pieces to a large, collaborative sculpture.

Day 1

  • 9.30 Drawing, games, and getting to know each other

  • 10.00 Exploring garden inspiration: what grows, crawls, and blooms

  • 10.30 Clay games to learn pinch, coil, and slab techniques

  • 11.00 Snack time and visiting the chickens

  • 11.30 Sketching ideas and planning the garden sculpture

  • 12.00 Lunch time

  • 12.45 Begin building the garden base: soil, stones, and structure

  • 1.30 Afternoon break

  • 1.50 Start adding large elements: flower stems, trees, pathways

  • 2.30 Everyone helps to clean up

Day 2

  • 9.30 Drawing and garden games

  • 10.00 Adding details: flowers, bugs, birds, and hidden treasures

  • 10.30 Creative challenge: add something surprising to the garden!

  • 11.00 Snack time and visiting the chickens

  • 11.30 Decorating with slip, carving textures, and painting details

  • 12.00 Lunch time

  • 12.45 Final touches and naming the sculpture as a group

  • 1.30 Afternoon break

  • 1.50 Clay games and a garden sculpture walk-through

  • 2.30 Everyone helps to clean up


Frances Gibson is a London-based ceramicist and illustrator.

Faye Macaree is a creative facilitator and practitioner.

Minimum class size is 6 people, if we don’t reach a minimum number of participants we will cancel the class and issue a full refund. Unfortunately, we cannot refund classes with less than a 2-week notice. All our teachers have been DBS checked.
